MEMBERS of the Central Coast community have etched 300 terracotta tiles to be laid in Erina Fair's new lifestyle precinct.
Art in Clay director Dawna Richardson said the project was a first for NSW.
``This project offers hundreds of Central Coast residents the opportunity to participate in this unique experience - allowing them to write, draw and paint onto the terracotta tile," she said.
``The tiles will be permanently displayed in Erina Fair's new lifestyle area, creating a permanent memory of their involvement in Erina Fair and the Erina Fair community."
Members of Erina Fair's 55-Plus Club will be assisting in the project, along with 31 local primary and secondary schools, community organisations and customers.
Erina Fair centre manager Sue Garling said she was thrilled to be involved.
``This is a very special project," she said. `` It is not often we can bring together hundreds of members of the community to create a permanent memory in their local shopping centre."
Ms Richardson returns to Erina Fair in June to assist participants with the painting of their tiles. The tiles are expected to be ready for display by July.
